The demand for spiritual healing has continued to grow and more healers have been trained to use this great gift from God.
Church
Events
Alton Christian Spirtualist
Church is an extremely active church. We try hard to carry on the
tradition of our founder, Mrs Pybus, in raising funds for charity,
helping those in need through Social Services, local hospices and
other charities.
We support ACTION AID and sponsor Rehema Eliasi Kitwana from Tanzania. Our sponsorship to this child gives her her only chance to beat poverty, providing funds for food, clothes and education. The cost to the church is just under £3.50 a week. We sincerely hope our help will be of great benefit to Rehema. She corresponds with us and anyone who would like to write to her can do so. We have a Notice Board dedicated to her leaflets etc in the church.
Some years ago the church
organised a concert at the Assembly Rooms in Alton in aid of Whitedown
Special School. This was a complete sell-out and raised over two
thousand pounds for the school. Alton Christian Spiritualist Church
Members have also purchased individual Christmas presents for every
child in the school and we have made other contributions through
the kindness of members and supporters.
We now support Over The Wall Alton "OTW". A charity for chronically ill children and their families. This charity gives sick children an entire week away in the company of trained staff who engage them in many activities not possible at home. we have raised funds with concerts, raffles, donations etc. Each child costs £1000 for a week and we are pleased to make a contribution to the work of this excellent charity. We have also supported a woman's refuge with much needed cosmetics, toiletries and toys.
We hold a Church supper
every autumn. The tickets for this event are sold out before they
are printed. We have a first class supper with a visiting medium
at each table giving individual readings. These events are hugely
popular and those attending enjoy the "cabaret" which is now included in the evenings proceedings.
Seminars have been orgainised
in the Chawton Village Hall. These are often run by our President,
Mrs Betty Redwood, and cover healing, aspects of mediumship, meditation
and of course, Christian Spiritualism.
Clairvoyant evenings are
popular and are attended not just by Spiritualists but by those who
are interested in a demonstration of Mediumship.
If evidential information is recieved seekers sometimes begin to regularly
attend church services. Our aim, therefore, is to obtain really highly
qualified mediums who can accurately convey the message of the continuity
of life together with our Christian Spiritualist philosophy.
